Thank you for posting this write-up Eddie. Glad I met you at the Tampa gun show!

While I was reading through this, I could tell you're a gun guy. There are many politicians that claim to be pro Second Amendment, but cannot articulate many of the points you've made or get into the weeds about various infringements such as the NFA or GCA. I've seen too many Republicans contradict themselves by saying they're for the Second Amendment, and then express support for infringements like the NFA or some of the ridiculous rules the ATF makes up.

I look forward to you challenging RINO Vern!

The Second Amendment is a necessary safeguard against government tyranny. It ensures that citizens can protect themselves, their families, and their property in the face of aggression, both from common criminals and from a potentially oppressive government.

"Besides the advantage of being armed, which the Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation, the existence of subordinate governments, to which the people are attached and by which the militia officers are appointed, forms a barrier against the enterprises of ambition, more insurmountable than any which a simple government of any form can admit of."

— James Madison

The Second Amendment can be used as a defense of all the other Amendments, but its primary purpose was to protect citizens' right to bear arms, which was seen as essential to the maintenance of a free and democratic society.

Thank you for writing this piece.

Eddie, I believe that the facts about Democrats supporting the mutilation and removal of genitalia

of school children with the support of teachers, principals, pediatricians, etc would create a strong negative impression of those running for office from the democrat party. Please consider working this into your platform.

Your argument - that we need guns to defend against a tyrannical regime - assumes that a tyrannical government is a likely prospect. Do you find an example of such in the last 247 years? What is concerning is the prospect of an authoritarian regime - as has been pretty clearly embodied in the Trump administration and the DeSantis governorship - which could use gun-owning, gun-loving, gun-wielding citizens to impose its diktats upon a populace that's used to peaceably exerting its will at the voting booth.

Additionally, you do not interpret the 2nd amendment's words - e.g. "militia" which has historical roots and connotations. Nor do you bother to even nod to the folks who might accept gun ownership, but want to see licensing and measures of control. We do not need open carry to defeat authoritarians. We need quiet thinking, rational discussion, and a jettisoning of Fox News level memes, stereotypes, and proud bravado. Even the Romans banned weapons in Rome.
